Behind the Scenes of a Dealer Advocate and Trade Show Point Person

Although there’s a large work load, it’s a lot of fun being the Dealer Advocate and Trade Show Point Person for Theo Wanne Classic Mouthpieces.  I get to tease Theo, help him stay organized and on time via text message harassment, get all the “behind the scenes” work accomplished for trade shows, and work to ensure that our dealer orders are processed as smoothly and quickly as possible. As a bonus, this lets me fully embrace my innate “OCD” tendencies towards color-coding everything. Far from getting annoyed at the hyper-planning and organizing, I actually am praised for it! Can you say “dream job”? 🙂

For an example, getting Theo Wanne Classic Mouthpieces ready for Music China 2011 is a big task! From the plane tickets to the travel visas to getting all of the sample product ready to ship, I have been running around like crazy for awhile now…. And the show isn’t until October! Not that the prep work isn’t a lot of fun!

Behind the scenes, prep for a big trade show like this has to run like a well-oiled machine. I take charge and Meg provides essential backup as we prep shipments, color code the product going to the show, and carefully document every last serial number.  So many things have to be taken into consideration – travel details, hotels, and scheduling – just for a start. The ultimate goal is to be able to hand Tom and Theo a carefully organized folder of information – detailing out the whole trip from start to finish.  Nothing for them to worry about and everything taken care of. This way, Meg and I can get everything ready to go and they can be free to focus their time on what they do best – bringing unbelievable products to market in a bid to consistently turn the music world upside down.

It’ll be a great show, and I can’t wait to start attending with them in the years to come, and provide backup on-site and in person. For now I’ll have to get them ready as best I can and then wave them off to adventure while the rest of us stay here to “hold down the fort.”  And throw secret food fights in the office while the bosses are away…. Just kidding! I swear…. Or not? Lol. They’ll never find out for sure….  😉
